Full size offshore racing is getting faster and faster with monster catamarans dominating nearly all events. Even recreational cats are showing the potency of this hull form with turbine-powered 50-footers hitting more than 200mph! You can experience that same incredible type of performance with the 2010 version of our Fighter offshore racing catamaran that is now powered by Arrow Shark's exceptional (also-new-for-2010) billet 6.5hp XP254M engine. In another section of this website you will find full details of the XP254M which benefits from the more precise, stronger and better-looking assemblies that billet-style construction makes possible. To handle the 19,000+rpm which the XP254M delivers, the Fighter also now has our latest improved clutch that uses a CNC-machined no-spring plate for smoother and more reliable running. A tuned pipe exhaust system has a special aft-mounted transverse muffler with scale-like dual outlet pipes that are water-injected to keep them cool. This gives a very realistic appearance with water streaming from the exhausts as the Fighter flies across your favorite lake. (Note though that it's best to hold your Fighter bow-up vertically for a minute after running to drain any remaining water from the muffler. Do not invert your Fighter or hold it bow-down after running as residual water could drain back into your engine.) A range of other features add to both the appeal and performance of the Fighter and these include a high-flow water pump operated by crankcase pressure pulses, a powerful 15kg metal gear hi-torque servo to precisely control the rudder at the rocketing 80+kph speeds which the Fighter can attain, and both two and three blade propellers that are sharpened, balanced and polished for less vibration and better performance. This dramatic cat is our largest boat at 57inches (1,448mm) and comes with superb factory-applied graphics that exemplify the spirit and excitement of offshore racing. The Fighter's hull design minimises drag by using the air sweeping through the tunnel to provide lift which is balanced by down-forces resulting from the aerodynamically-shaped foredeck and canopy to give extra stability as well as higher speeds. With exceptionally good turning capabilities, the Fighter will keep both gas boating newcomers and experts very happy!
